Having watched a fair few sci-fi and superhero films lately, I decided to try recreating an effect often used in those films - the transformation from one object/material to another.

This is a quick test I created where first a series of small diamond-esque shapes roll across the object, transforming the red carpaint material to a black liquid goo-like material.

This effect was surprisingly easy and quick to create, much quicker than first expected. This is in part thanks to the excellent MASH toolkit introduced in Maya 2017.

This effect can then be quickly reversed to reveal the carpaint material.
