Theme Parks are now looking at more advanced ways to get their riders to feel immersed into new worlds. Augmented Reality tries to blur the line between CGI and the real world. An example of this that has been around a while already is the 'Galactic' roller coaster at 'Alton Towers' in Staffordshire. This was opened in 2016 and requires riders to wear a headset which screens 360 video of CGI virtual environments.
Another newer example of this is 'Thorpe Park' and their updated ride 'Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon' that opened this year. Watch this video about Figment Productions involvement in this attraction.
