Walt Disney Studios released their latest Winnie the Pooh film 'Christopher Robin' on 17th August.
I had been looking forward to this film ever since the trailers started being released a few months ago. I was glad to see a Winnie the Pooh themed film that was aimed at adults rather than children. It feels like it was created for those of us who remember Pooh, Piglet & co from our childhood. I wanted to relive that excitement, just as Christopher Robin does during the film.
Christopher Robin is now an adult (around 40 years old) in this film, so it's set many years later than the books. At first I was unsure how I'd feel watching the characters now they're 'grown-up'. I'd of course already seen their appearance in the trailers and actually quite liked their slightly more life-like style, although original is still best! However I was unsure if their personalities would have been changed too. I needn't have worried! All the characters still had their lovable personalities and kept their unique traits that made each one relatable in their own way.
I don't want to give away the films story as it was only released recently so I'll just do a quick review. It's not an Earth-shattering film & I doubt it will win any awards - although I don't know much about that sort of thing! However I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any Winnie the Pooh fans. The film-makers have stayed true to the characters and have really done them justice. They've managed to keep the characters personalities just as charming as I remember. It was a fun film offering an all too quick flash of nostalgia.
